Newborn Photos with Madelyn

I’m so grateful for Angela Rose Photography who made the trek up to Duluth to capture these cherished newborn moments when Madelyn was just three weeks old! While the rainy day could have been a real bummer (our backyard is a ridge overlooking Lake Superior), the fog created a beautifully moody Pride & Prejudice moment that Angela captured perfectly.

My friend Jenna once said that social media was a way to document her life and family. I thought that was such a beautiful perspective. And while Instagram wasn’t a great fit for me, her point of view really challenged me to be better at documenting our family (whether I share those memories online or not!).

The moment Instagram became a marketing tool for business, I’ve been extremely aware that I am not a photographer! I, like many of us, went through a season of trying to turn Kyle into my Instagram husband and after months/years of frustration spending time trying to be gifted at something that just isn’t my gift … I quit social media for business. But documenting our family is still so important to me.

Years ago we added an annual brand photoshoot to our business spending plan but we’ve never had a budget for family photography! Now that Madelyn is here, I want to make sure to document our family through these seasons. Again, thanks for the idea Jenna(!), we are adding at least one family photoshoot a year to our household budget (right now we are aiming for a photoshoot every three months!).

Life is so sweet and I’m so thankful for these photographs to capture these cherished moments.
