Little Rosie girl! You are three months old and I can hardly believe it. Easily the fastest three months of my life! Goodness, 2024 in general has been a whirlwind. Selling our house, buying our dream land, buying a new house, celebrating MJ turning 3, and then baby Rosie making her arrival on the scene! These past three months have felt like a much needed slow down! We have soaked up all the baby snuggles, adjusted to life as a family of four, unpacked boxes and worked on growing our business and serving our customers in the fringe hours.

About Rosie

I could not be more grateful for the bliss and blur of this life. Rosie is an absolute joy. She is such a smiley, happy, cuddly baby girl. She’s a great eater, has the cutest baby rolls, most kissable cheeks, cute button nose, and the brightest eyes. She has definitely woken up to the world! No more sleeping anywhere— she’s alert and watching all the things. She’s started to notice Sadie more and smiles when she hears her big sissy come into the room. She loves batting at her toys on her play gym. She’s grabbing and holding things. Madelyn never really took to a lovey but Rosie has and it’s so cute!

Rosie isn’t a big fan of her carseat, so we try to keep travel to a minimum with lots of breaks. She’s a very talkative little girl, lots of coo’s, gurgles, squeals and I think she is working on an actual laugh! She loves her mama, smiles anytime she sees her daddy, and of course is curious about her big sister.  She is officially on the move! She loves sleeping on her side and has rolled over from her back to her tummy a couple times.

In many ways Rosie is much more vocal than I remember Madelyn being. She’ll likely be the most outgoing of all of us!

Memories & Milestones

This month Rosie met two of her great grandparents. My Papaw Jack who is 93 and my Grandma Mable who just turned 90. We celebrated Father’s Day as a family of four and July 4th at home with sparklers and smoke bombs. It’s been unseasonably warm this summer so we spend a lot of time inside. Gymnastics, swim lessons, days at the pool and splash pad for our big girl, and days at home for little Rosie.

Sleep

Honestly, we haven’t landed on a definite routine yet. Unlike with Madelyn who was on a pretty good schedule by 3 months, Rosie typically has to go with the flow! She eats every 2-3 hours and naps in between. She usually eats around 7:30 pm but is sometimes restless at bedtime and eats again between 8-9. She is sleeping for long stretches. Atleast 7-8 hours and sometimes goes all night. I have been more lax with Rosie because that’s just the season of life we are in— summertime with a toddler and newborn means schedules are just a bit more loose. Night sleep is my main priority and of course to make sure she is getting the rest she needs.

She sleeps in a bassinet by the bed at night but usually during the day sleeps beside me while I work and though I don’t do it often, I love wearing her so I can get things done around the house. She loves to be cuddled and sleeps much better being held. She is definitely grunting a lot less so less waking for mama during the night, praise! We are hoping to get her room ready this month and atleast have her napping in her own room soon.

Work

This month we enrolled new students into our personal finance course, Blueprint at Home, and did a summer shop drop with new products in the shop. It’s been a lot of nights and early mornings. We have a nanny two days a week this summer to hang with Madelyn but Rosie girl is with me all the time. It’s bumpy and scattered, but I’m grateful to do both. Growing a business and our family is no small feat, but we are doing it!

Life with Two

We are finding our groove. I feel like I’m getting more time with Madelyn which has been so sweet. I also am feeling less guilty about Madelyn playing by herself and stretching her independence. The first month or so with Rosie I missed Madelyn so much because my time was mostly spent with Rosie. Now we’ve found a good rhythm. I am able to sneak away for pool time or splash pad meetups with friends just Madelyn and I, and of course get plenty of snuggle time with Rosie. Kyle and I don’t get much time together, especially since a lot of our nights are spent working right now. Hopefully we can get back to date nights soon.

One thing that we’ve been navigating these past few months is some big emotions from Madelyn. I think it’s her trying to process all the change and missing her mommy. Kyle and I have had to talk about “discipline” for the very first time as we navigate this season of toddlerhood so that’s been challenging. Madelyn is such a sweet, sassy, smart girl… I know all the transition has been tough on her but I’m so proud of her. She is the BEST big sister to Rosie. She gets her paci when she’s crying and makes sure to cover her up with a blanket if she kicks it off. She LOVES her sister so much and it’s the cutest how much she wants to see “Baby Rosie”.

***

Yesterday I sat in the car while Kyle ran into the UPS store with two sleeping littles and I teared up thinking about how grateful I am.

Rosie girl, you are an absolute dream. You bring so much joy into our lives. You are happy and silly and slow us down in the best way! I cannot believe you’re already three months old, rolling over, eating your hands and so talkative. What a joy to be your mama.
