I had just left my position as a tenured university professor, with the idea of building a business around my expertise. I was enthusiastic, but quickly realizing that the business training programs I’d been through were missing some key fundamentals. I was listening to too many voices and trying too many systems (none of them very well), resulting in stunted growth.
Now, I feel so much more freedom to build a business that better fits the needs of this season of life.
First and foremost, understanding what is “enough.” This helped me not only set better goals, but the process helped me see where there were some unnecessary expenditures. That has resulted in a business that runs on a very lean overhead, increasing overall profits. Second, I built 3 different offers for clients at 3 different stages. Even better, Shanna helped me identify how to design those offerings so that as each client saw successful results, they would be ready to move up to the next level of service. This helped me clarify my message, so when it came to marketing and sales, it was simple to explain and easy to identify the best service for the client. As I took on clients, I refined the offerings and developed streamlined systems to deliver them.
One big “aha!” moment was applying the concept of “what is enough” to my business. My early financial goals consisted of pulling numbers out of the air that “sounded good,” but didn’t have any reasoning behind them. Blueprint helped me take that concept of “enough” to set better goals that were purposeful, realistic, stretching, and way less stressful. I was reminded again that we can trust God to meet our needs, and spend our energy on the things that really matter.
It’s tough to narrow it down! We can make things way too complicated in business, and I loved how Blueprint helped me simplify, strategize, and build.
