Welcome to those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer!

For many of us, summer looks a lot like a juggling act of taking kids to the pool and trying desperately to catch up on emails! And while you may be sweating on how you’re going to get the same amount done while having the kiddos home from school, I hope you’re able to carve out some time to enjoy summer not just with your kids but like a kid!

Adulting Perk? While summer reading lists used to be assigned by social studies teachers, now we get to decide what’s on our reading list! Bonus Points: No surprise summer reading test on the first day of school šŸ˜‰

Here’s what’s on my summer reading list for 2024Ā  (in no particular order):

2024 Summer Reading List:

Song of Significance: Seth Godin is one of my favorite authors & I can’t wait to dig into this book on work and leadership.

The 5 am Club: I heard about this book at a conference where I recently spoke. As a toddler mom and a brand new baby at home with some big business goals and the need to workout more, I’ve been thinking a lot about making the most of early mornings. 5AM sounds exhausting… 6AM club?

Tell me Everything: I love a good auto-biography and I’ve heard great things about this one by Minka Kelly. While we all know & love her as Lyla Garrity from Friday Night Lights, read her story of becoming a self-made lady. I’m here for it.

If I don’t Laugh, I’ll cry: I just heard the author speak on Nancy Ray’s podcast and immediately added it to my wish list. She mentions she does ā€œvoicesā€ so I’m for sure opting for the audio version!

$100M Offer: If you read my 2024 goals, you’ll know that one of my big goals is ā€œless but betterā€. We spent most of 2023 restructuring and streamlining our offers and are now ready to make the few offers we have the very best they can be! I love the tagline of this book ā€œHow to Make Offers So Good People Feel Stupid Saying Noā€ – I hope to get our work in the hands of more entrepreneurs who need them in 2024!

The Opt-Out Family: I recently had Erin Loechner on the podcast and loved getting to chat about her new book – The Opt-Out Family! I already had a sneak peak and you guys, it is GOOD.

Sacred Rest: Last fall I went to a women’s conference and heard the author speak from the main stage. I was scribbling notes so fast, I couldn’t wait to read her book. Though sleep may be sparing in this season of life (newborn + toddler life), I believe rest can be found in any season. That is my hope and I’m excited to dig in.

Atomic Habits: This book has been recommended to me for years. As someone who teaches on goal-setting and goal-achievement, I am keenly aware how our habits determine so much of success but habit change isn’t always easy. As someone who tends to ā€œgo big or go homeā€, I really want to work on small changes this year and I think that’s what atomic habits is all about!

Risen Motherhood: I’ve been honored to have Laura Wifler as a student this year & can’t wait to dive into her book co-written with Emily Jensen this summer. Gospel hope for everyday moments sounds like just the summer refreshment I need.

10x is easier than 2x:Ā  Definitely a theme this year – less but better. With limited work hours these days I’m all about making the biggest impact in the least amount of time. I’ve heard good things about this one!

Finding time to read hasn’t always been easy for me. You’ll see a few of these books still hanging around from my 2023 Summer Reading list. This summer I’m recommitting to no technology an hour before bed. This little practice feels like something I can easily incorporate even during this newborn season of life. While I have friends who breeze through 40 books a year, if I get through half of these books over the summer that will feel great!

Happy Reading!
