Our Favorite Halloween Themed Children’s Books

I always hoped Madelyn would love books and boy does she! She wakes up in the morning saying “books” and goes to bed at night saying “books” (or “daddy”, but whatever 🙄😉) so leave it to the mama who loves seasonal pillows, to find and collect our favorite seasonal children’s books! Because, why not?!

1) Little Blue Truck Halloween There’s no doubt this one has to be our #1 pick. We love the entire Little Blue Truck series and the Halloween one comes in high on the list of favorites in the entire series. Board book and lift the flaps, win-win! Who knew lifting the flaps could be so fun! 

2) Spooky Pookie We were gifted this book by our sweet neighbors last year and have since really enjoyed many of the Sandra Boynton series! They are cute and silly and one of MJ’s favs! Boo! Baa, La la la! The original (??)  is one of our favorites as well! 

3) Happy Halloween from The Very Busy Spider We lucked out on this one and found it during a Target 25% childrens book sale! Plus they honored the online price so we got this one at half off sticker. Gotta love a good bargain! Eric Carle is one of kind and another lift-the-flap book for the win!

4) The Berenstain Bears Go on a Ghost Walk. I grew up on the Berenstain Bears and luckily my mothers hoarding ways (thanks mom!) paid off! We inherited a stack of vintage 🧐 Berenstain bears book and currently sifting through our favorites. This one has been on repeat for the past few weeks. 

5) The Berenstain Bears Trick or Treat Another classic from Stan & Jan Berenstain!

6) I’m not sure this counts as “Halloween” themed but I would be remiss to not mention the classic (and Madelyn’s current favorite favorite book—like we read it at least 3xs a day) Where the Wild Things Are.

7) Biscuit Visits the Pumpkin Patch. Bebe (aka Grandma Barb) gifted us a Christmas book from the Biscuit collection last year and Madelyn loves it. I’d like to start collecting more in the series and this Halloween themed book is on the list! 

8) Eek! Halloween See above for my love of Sandra Boynton. For sure looking for this one when it goes on sale! 

9) Corduroy’s Best Halloween Ever! We signed Madelyn up for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (Love it!) so that is how we learned about the Corduroy books. Excited to start collecting more in the series!

10) You’re My Little Pumpkin Pie Illustration is everything! I don’t know anything about this book but will buy it because it’s just so darn cute!
