It’s that time of year… gifting season is upon us & I’m so excited to kick it off with my 2023 small business gift guide. It’s no surprise that I have a special place in my heart for small business owners. It’s why I do what I do everyday, to help others make their dreams of owning a business a reality.
Owning and running a small business is not for the faint of heart, I know I don’t have to tell you that since I imagine most of you reading own a business yourself (or are dreaming of doing so).
That’s why I am so excited to round up a few of my favorite things from small business owners around the world for this year’s small business gift guide. While I do not have the honor of working with all of these companies, many of them I have met through my programs, podcast, or working 1:1 together.
I hope some of their goods make it under your Christmas tree this year!
Custom Cutting Board : Swooning over this custom cutting board by my student Leah E Moss. Crafted out of maple & engraved with your loved one’s signature recipe, this is such a thoughtful gift. Learn more about Leah’s story here!
Val Marie Paper Prayer Journal : We love everything by Val Marie Paper. This yearly prayer journal is such a meaningful gift – I’m going for the colorway Cloud Grey for myself this year!
I’d Rather be Watching Gilmore Girls Sweatshirt : No truer sentiment. Raise your hand if Gilmore Girls is your work from home background banter… You guys are definitely my people 😉
Hand-Embroidered Hair Bows : These pretty, custom bows are perfect for the little gals in your life. The maker is so sweet & even has a Christmas version available too! Love all of the hand embroidered goods in this shop.
Curious Year Calendar : LOVE this calendar from my student Kait Saunders’s shop, A Little Something Goods. Filled with holidays & sweet illustrations, this is such a fun way to brighten someone’s year. Because who doesn’t want a reminder to celebrate the little things (like ice cream for breakfast day)? You can read more of Kait’s story in our “money makeover” student spotlight series.
Cardigan Climate Candle : My all time favorite candle by Big White Yeti Candle Co. We keep this one burning year round in the Skidmore household – it is a tried & true staple! Listen to founder Katie’s story on the podcast here.
Case Canvas : My newest obsession, these customizable phone cases by Case Canvas. Delivered with three interchangeable inserts, I can’t wait to get Madelyn to color one just for me. Founded by the husband of our recent podcast guest, Emily Moore. Listen to her episode here!
Evergreen Christmas Tea Towel : Designed by artist & writer Emily Lex, I’m loving this neutral christmas-inspired tea towel. And her Christmas watercolor workbook is such a sweet holiday activity, for adults and kids!

Christmas Tree Embroidery Kit : Swooning over this dainty & neutral Christmas tree embroidery kit. Picture cozying up by the Christmas tree with a holiday movie in the background… Perfection.
A Thrill of Hope Glass : I’m loving this gold lettered Christmas can glass by Rachel Allene. Perfect for an afternoon guilty pleasure – cold brew, Diet Coke, or DP (with the good ice of course).
The World Needs What You Got Sweatshirt : This neutral sweatshirt with a light-hearted, encouraging message is your newest closet staple. Made by Ramble & Company, a business that is Magnolia Silos Market approved. And as you can likely tell by this roundup, you can never have enough sweatshirts.
